The 2023 Billboard Music Awards is undergoing a schedule change, moving from its usual spring timing to a fall date.

This change, announced by organizers Billboard and Dick Clark Productions on March 16, marks a return to the award ceremony's historical tradition of taking place in the cooler months.
The BBMAs were initially held in December from 1990 to 2006 before transitioning to May for every edition from 2011, except for the pandemic-altered 2020 show held in October.
They celebrate contemporary music's standout figures, with winners determined by their performance on the Billboard charts.
Who will perform at the Billboard Music Awards?
The awards show is set to feature performances by artists like Karol G, who is nominated in five categories.
Karol G has had a significant year, achieving her first Billboard 200 chart-topper with "Manana Sera Bonito." The Colombian artist is nominated for top Latin artist, top Latin female artist, top Latin touring artist, top Latin album (Manana Sera Bonito), and top Latin song ("TQG" with Shakira).
Other performers at the 2023 BBMAs include Peso Pluma, NewJeans, Bebe Rexha & David Guetta, and a special appearance by boxing legend Mike Tyson during Peso Pluma's performance of "Rubicon."
With 20 nominations, Taylor Swift leads as the top finalist for the 2023 BBMAs, followed by Morgan Wallen and SZA with 17 entries each. The awards will feature a unique collaboration with Spotify's "Fans First," offering fans an intimate connection with their favorite artists.
The ceremony, produced by dick clark productions and presented by Marriott Bonvoy, will include performances and awards on various platforms, including BBMAs.watch, and will also feature exclusive content hosted at Marriott Bonvoy hotels. Lexus and Marriott Bonvoy Moments are among the event's sponsors, contributing to a VIP fan experience.
